Portulaca or 9 O Clock Plant
Portulaca is also known as Sun rose, Moss rose, Sun moss, 9'O clock or Table rose plant.

Portulaca is a easy to grow plant for beginners, it florishes and blooms the most in the Summer season.
This flower has a special characteristic I.e. it blooms into a beautiful flower at about 9 A.M in the morning so named 9’O clock flower.
The flowers are of different colours like pink, red, orange and yellow and some pastel shades like apricot, cream and white too. They are small plants which can generally grow upto 3-6 inches. Easy to care for and hosting beautiful flowers all summer long, it will look beautiful in flower beds or flat containers and hanging suspensions.

HOW TO GROW - It can be grown either by seeds Or the cuttings. Seed germination takes around 10-15 days by keeping them in full-sunlight.But gardener must take care not to sow too many seeds in the same nursery container.

‌We can grow this plant in any season. But it is preferable to grow in summer season in direct sunlight. It generally needs 6-8 hours of full sunlight.

‌WATER - It needs low to moderate moisture, they aren't drought tolerant but can tolerate periods of dryness. But the flowering is better with some soil moisture.

‌FERTILIZER - Generally don't need any fertilizer but slow-release fertilizer at the time of planting can help to promote healthy growth and profuse flowering. Add a high phosphorus fertilizer just before flowering.

‌DISEASES - Stem and root rot can occur due to overwatering of soil. So, keep the plant in well draining pots.
