1. Choose a healthy plant from the nursery first that is free of any rotting and yellow pale leaves.
2. To grow in water, use a layer of pebbles to stabilize the stems.
3. Add enough water to keep the roots covered. Filtered water is best for keeping the plant healthy. Change water once a week.
4. A clear container makes it easy to see the roots and check the water level, but it can also cause algae to grow, so you may want to use an opaque or colourful container.

1. Change the water every 7 days, clean the pebbles and container as well.
2. Lucky bamboo will grow fine without any fertilizer.
3. Keep it out of direct sunlight. Bright, indirect light is best. If it starts to fade to a pale green it needs more light.

5. If the stalks get too tall, cut them off and start a new plant by rooting the stalks in water.
