Strawberry Plant🍓

Strawberry plant is known for its aroma, bright red colour, juicy texture, and sweetness-strawberry.
Fruit of this plant is very expensive in market but you can grow this plant in your garden & enjoy.

How to grow ?

You can grow strawberry plants from seeds as well as you can buy plant from any nursery.
Second one is better option because sometime seeds do not germinate. And if you obtain seeds from packed strawberries they will also not germinate because they were harvested unripe .
You can grow strawberries from seed but it will take lots of time and hard work .
minimum it will take one year to get ready into a mature plant & producing fruits.

While repotting strawberry plant make sure your plant crown is above soil level otherwise it will be rot or die and won’t produce any fruit.

Tip - only take 3 runners from single plant & cut others
if possible don’t take any runners from plant in first year.

When to buy ?
Spring is the best time, as well as you can also buy in July or August .

Soil
One third garden soil , one third cocopeat & one third compost.
Add some sand to your soil mixture if your garden soil is already sandy, then do not add sand.

Strawberry needs acidic soil ( P.H. – 6 – 6.5 )
+Well drained soil (prevent root rot)
+ All time moist soil
And also need lots of nitrogen while growing and fruiting.

Sun 🌞

Place your plant where it gets full sun of 6 to 8 hours

Temperature
20°C to 29°C ( 35°F TO 85°F)
Fruiting month vary from place to place in India but too cold and too hot is worst condition for this plant.

Planter OR container

It can grow in less shallow pots ,hanging basket or container.
Don't use more than 6 inch pot.

HOW TO SAVE THIS PLANT DURING HOT SUMMER AND COLD WINTERS

Simply shift your plant to shade area during dormancy period.
During summer it will protect it from Harsh sun burns
And during winter it will protect it from cold winds.

FERTILIZER / FOOD / SUPPLEMENTS for strawberry 🍓 plant

Don’t use chemical fertilizers from market
Make your own fertilizer at home.
Fertilize plant once or twice in a month as per its need
Loosen your soil before fertilizing
1 - soak peels of any citrus fruit(orange, lemon etc.) overnight and give it to your plant ....,you can do same with banana peel (source of potassium plus micronutrients and all the other nutrients that plants need to grow.)
2. You can add bone meal, mustard cake powder ,Neem cake as fungicide ,cow dung compost & some jaggery.
3. You can add used coffee grounds in soil every 15 days.
